Probably, one of the worst addictions people have is the one that they have towards tobacco cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products. Tobacco induces a slightly different kind of addiction when compared with addictions such as gambling. These are all addictions that come up mostly from the addictive personality of a person itself. Tobacco, in fact, is a little different because the substance itself is addictive in nature. The last thing a person in his teens would want would be to have his peers laugh at him, call him chicken or whatever daily abuse these so-called peers dish out, the moment he tells them ‘No, thank you,’ to the cigarette they hand over to him. So in order to avoid being teased and pushed into oblivion he accepts the cigarette and takes his first puff.
Sadly, the hacking that follows, which is in fact the body’s way of telling a person that it does not want tobacco cigarette’s smoke in its lungs, is ignored by the youth. It will take a brief period of time, but eventually the smoker’s body will become accustomed to the tobacco cigarette’s smoke itself.
Peripheral neuropathy is a common issue that specifically affects diabetics, people undergoing chemotherapy, and those with HIV. The most common areas affected by neuropathy are the feet with the second being the hands. Peripheral neuropathy symptoms can be varied and can include decreased sensation, increased sensation, weakness of foot or hand muscles, and symptoms related to changes in the skin and nails. Unfortunately, as the prevalence of diabetes increases, diabetic peripheral neuropathy becomes more common. Statistics indicate that 25% of diabetic patients will experience neuropathic foot pain. And, because the incidence of diabetes is increasing, so is the incidence of neuropathy symptoms.Of course, the most efficient means of helping to control diabetes related foot pain is working to manage diabetes itself. Once symptoms have started, medications such as Lyrica and Neurontin are frequently prescribed to help control the neurological pain. For many, the use of these medications are either ineffective or have side effects that limit their use. For this reason the use of alternative medicines such as acupuncture has become more prevalent.
